Girl's Football (6-a-side)

EVENT Date: 14th and 15th June 2003
Venue: St Joseph's Specialist Sports College, Horwich
Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm

 
 

1. AGE GROUPS AND CATEGORIES

Under 12
All competitors must have been under 12 years of age at midnight on 31st August/1st September 2001.
School years 6 and 7 in 2001/2002

Under 14
All competitors must have been 12 or 13 years of age (but no more) at midnight on 31st August/1st September 2001.
School years 8 and 9 in 2001/2002.

Competitors who are registered at a Centre of Excellence will be eligible to compete.

No club teams can enter and the winning team from each Borough's schools competition shall represent that Borough in the Youth Games.


2. SQUAD

A squad will consist of up to a maximum of 20 players. All players must be listed on the official Squad Declaration Form.
Squad Declaration Forms will be provided and should be completed and returned to the Youth Games Office no later than Friday 16th May 2003. Only those individuals listed on the Squad Declaration form will be eligible to compete at the Games.

The team on the day will consist of nine players (including substitutes).
Team Declaration Forms, detailing names, addresses, dates of birth and the ethnic origin of each team member, will be provided and must be submitted to the Event Organiser on the day. Failure to do so will result in the team being excluded from the competition.
Players who do not appear on the Squad Declaration Form are ineligible to play in the Competition.

The player's school is the deciding factor on eligibility irrespective of where the player lives.


3. COMPETITION FORMAT

Matches will be played eight minutes each way.

The competition will be played on a league basis with each team playing all others over the course of the two days. The winning team will be the one that finishes top of the league at the end of the event.

For teams finishing level on points at the end of the competition the following will be used to decide the positions:

1. Goal difference; then
2. Most goals scored; then
3. Play off match of normal length, followed if necessary by a penalty shot out on the form of:
i. the best of five (five players to be nominated to the referee)
ii. sudden death with the team currently on the field

4. RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Competition will be governed in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Football Association. Matches will be played in general conformity with the Laws of Small Sided Football as issued by the Football Association.

Playing Area
The competition will be played without barriers on grass pitches

Pitch Dimensions
Length 60 yards, width 40 yards

Centre Mark
A suitable mark will be made in the exact centre of the playing area. The centre mark will be surrounded by a circle, 5 yards in radius.

Penalty Area
The penalty area extends 10 yards from the goal line and is 20 yards wide. There are no restrictions on the number of players allowed within the penalty area.

Penalty Mark
A penalty mark will be placed at the edge of the penalty area, 10 yards from the centre of the goal.

Goal
The goal shall be 12 feet by 6 feet.

Ball
The ball used shall be size 5 for U14 and size 4 for under 12.

Number of Players
Each borough will nominate a team of nine players for the weekend (a maximum of three substitutes per team shall be permitted). Matches shall be played by two teams, each of six players. One player of each team shall be a goalkeeper. Substitutes may be used at any time with the permission of the referee. Players may re-enter the game. Any one of the other players may change places with the goal keeper, provided that the referee is informed before the change is made and also that the change is made during a stoppage in the game.

Offside
There will be no offside. Players may place themselves in any part of the playing area, including the penalty area.

Goal Kicks
Goal kicks can be taken from anywhere in the penalty area.

Penalty Kick
A penalty kick shall be taken from the penalty mark and except for the defending goalkeeper, only the player taking the kick can enter the penalty area and for that purpose only.
Whether or not a goal is scored from the kick the player concerned must leave the penalty area immediately after taking the kick and before taking any further part in play.
All players, except the striker and the goalkeeper, must be at least 5 yards from the penalty area and must stand behind the penalty mark.

Goalkeepers
After holding the ball the goalkeeper must immediately return the ball into play with a throwing action. It must not be kicked from the hands within the penalty area by the goalkeeper.
Goalkeepers can handle the ball in the penalty area. The ball can be held, at the referees discretion, for up to six seconds.
Players can pass the ball back to their own goalkeeper but the goalkeeper must not handle the ball after a back pass.
Goalkeepers indulging in tactics which, in the opinion of the referee, are designed merely to hold up the game and thus waste shall be penalised by the awarding of an indirect free-kick.

Punishment for Infringement
An indirect free kick shall be taken by a player of the opposing team from a point ten yards from the goal lone nearest to where the infringement occurred.
If a goalkeeper leaves the goal area they will be treated as any other player.

Referees
A referee shall be appointed to officiate in each game. She/he shall have the power and duties laid down in the laws of the game.

Team must be ready to play 5 minutes before the allocated kick-off time.

5. SCORING

Points will be awarded in the competition as follows:
3 points for a win
2 points for a draw
1 point for a loss

In the event of a team failing to arrive for a match the remaining team shall be awarded a 3-0 win

6. RESTRICTIONS

Fouls and misconduct shall be dealt with in accordance with the laws of small sided football.
Players who are cautioned or sent off will be dealt with according to the disciplinary procedure of the local county Football Association.
The match shall not be considered valid if there are fewer than four players in either team. In the event that one team has less than four players the opposing team will be awarded a 3-0 win.

7. EQUIPMENT

Teams should provide two sets of playing kit in contrasting colours.
The colour of the goalkeeper's shirt must be distinguishable from the rest of the team.
Footwear must be in accordance to the Laws of the game and subject to any local regulations.
The wearing of shin guards, must be covered by the stockings in accordance to the Laws of the game (compulsory)

8. AFFILIATION REQUIREMENTS

All teams will be automatically affiliated through GreaterSport's relationship with Manchester County F.A.

9. CANCELLATION PROCEDURE

In the event that it is not possible to complete the competition, if it is feasible medals and overall placings will be awarded on the basis of results so far. If however the Event Organiser feels this is not feasible no medals will be awarded. The decision of the Event Organiser is final.

10. ANY OTHER INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE EVENT

No substitute is allowed to replace a player dismissed from the playing area for misconduct during the game in which the offence occurred.

In the event of an accident Coaches and Team Managers should refrain from stepping onto the pitch until authorisation has been granted by the referee.
